COUNSELLING
I provide psychological support for children, adolescents, and families to help with emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges.
Support may involve individual sessions, parent sessions, or a combination depending on your child’s needs.
Counselling (Individual Support)
Sessions are tailored to the individual and focus on building emotional understanding, coping skills, and everyday functioning.
Common areas of support include:
- Anxiety and worry
- Low mood
- OCD and intrusive thoughts
- Social difficulties
- Emotional regulation challenges
- Behavioural concerns
- Executive functioning difficulties
- Anger and frustration
Parent Support
Parent sessions focus on helping you better understand your child’s needs and developing practical strategies for home and daily life.
This may include:
- Understanding emotional and behavioural patterns
- Supporting ADHD and executive functioning needs
- Supporting autistic profiles and sensory needs
- Managing challenging behaviours
- Strengthening parent–child relationships
- Supporting school engagement
Counselling sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration.
A referral is not required to access counselling services from a psychologist. If you would like to access a Medicare rebate for counselling, this is available with a GP Mental Health Care Plan referral under the Better Access scheme. A rebate is applied per eligible session, with a gap fee payable.
If you are unsure whether counselling or assessment is the most appropriate starting point, this can be discussed during an initial session.
