FAQ's & Information for Families

General Information

No referral is required to book an appointment.

A referral is only required if you would like to access Medicare rebates for counselling sessions through a GP Mental Health Care Plan (Better Access scheme).

I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families.

Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessments are tailored to each individual and referral question. They are designed to help build a clearer understanding of a child’s learning profile, strengths, and support needs.

For more detailed information about the assessment process, please refer to the Assessment page.

The assessment process typically involves 3–4 sessions, depending on complexity and the referral question. This may include an initial consultation, assessment sessions, questionnaire completion, liaison with school or other professionals (where appropriate), scoring and interpretation, report writing, and a feedback session.

Counselling Services

Counselling provides a supportive space for children, adolescents, and families to explore emotional, behavioural, and social challenges. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and focus on building understanding, emotional regulation, and practical strategies for everyday life.

For more information about counselling, please refer to the Counselling & Parent Support page.

Sessions are typically 50–55 minutes in duration. Frequency is discussed collaboratively and may vary depending on individual needs.

Medicare, Private Health & NDIS

Medicare rebates are available for counselling sessions with a valid Mental Health Care Plan from a GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist under the Better Access initiative.

Some private health funds may provide rebates depending on your level of cover. Please check directly with your provider.

Yes, I support self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants for eligible assessment and counselling services. Please check with your plan manager regarding funding approval.

Fees vary depending on the type of service. Full fee information is discussed prior to booking so you have a clear understanding of costs involved.

An initial consultation fee of $345 for a 90 minute session is required for assessment services and is charged separately.
